Police are still searching for three teenagers in connection with a stabbing in Gateshead.

At around 1.45am on Saturday, police received a report of a disturbance in Flexbury Gardens, Harlow Green.

Officers and emergency services attended the scene and found a 28-year-old man with serious injuries believed to have been caused by a bladed article.

He was taken to a major trauma unit and was said to be in a stable condition.

Northumbria Police released descriptions of two males and a female who they believe could assist their investigation and said all are believed to be between the ages of 16 and 17.

On Monday, a spokeswoman for the force confirmed they had not been found and no arrests have yet been made.

The female has been described as having a chubby build, about 5ft 7in in height, with fair hair tied back in a ponytail. She was wearing a black top and jeans.

One of the males was thought to be of slim build, 5ft 8in with black hair and a round face and was wearing a light blue top with tracksuit bottoms.

The second male was slim, about 5ft 9in with fair, mousey blond hair and was wearing a grey jumper with tracksuit pants.
