A picnic turned tragic for four students from a boarding school who drowned in a water-filled stone quarry on Saturday at Tuem village in north Goa, said local police on Sunday.

MUMBAI: A picnic turned tragic for four students from a boarding school who drowned in a water-filled stone quarry on Saturday at Tuem village in north Goa, said local police on Sunday.
The bodies of Danesh Sheikh (14) and Fredrick Fernandes (15), who were from Mumbai, and Jonhas Mendes (14) and Prince Dias (15), who were from Goa, were recovered on Sunday, said deputy superintendent of police, Gajanan Prabhudesai.
The four were boarders from the Don Bosco School in Tuem village.
Prabhudesai said of the six students that jumped into the pit during a school picnic, two were pulled out by teachers, but the other four drowned.
