MUMBAI: The city will finally get its first AC mini buses with Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray launching six of them at BEST headquarters in Colaba on Monday morning.
The 21-seater buses will be deployed on feeder routes outside Railway and Metro stations and will provide last mile connectivity to lakhs of commuters across the island city and suburbs.
The event to hand over these buses on wet lease is being expedited on Monday in view of the election code of conduct kicking in this week.
A senior BEST official said the routes will be finalised in the next few days and the buses will initially be attached to the Colaba bus depot.
Some of the buses could be run "conductor-less" on a few office-going routes, sources said.
