AGRA: Aligarh GRP lodged an FIR against two dozen men after two groups of passengers got into a fistfight at Aligarh junction on Sunday evening. The complainants claimed they were not being given space by the other group to alight from the overcrowded general coach of the weekly Mau-Anand Vihar express.
The scuffle took place at around 4.25pm on platform seven, when a family of six - Hasrun Nisna (40), Afsana Begum (39), Shafeeq (16), Taufeeq Khan (27), Shahim Khan (47) and Shifa Khan (15) - tried to get off the train.
The residents of Ghumachamau village in Kannauj district were traveling to Aligarh Medical College to have Shafeeq's liver examined for suspected infection.
According to Aligarh GRP, as soon the train stopped, scores of passengers attempted to get off and board simultaneously. Shahim and Taufeeq got into an argument with a group of unidentified passengers in the train as they were finding it difficult to exit the overcrowded coach.
"The argument flared up into a fistfight. Two members of the family received minor injuries. Based on their written complaint, GRP filed an FIR under IPC sections 147 (rioting), 352 (assault or criminal force) and 394 (voluntarily causing hurt during robbery) against two dozen people," said Aligarh junction SHO Yashpal Singh.
