Burnley U23s  maintained their unbeaten start to life in the Professional Development League with a 3-1 win over Ipswich Town.

Ali Koiki opened the scoring with a penalty midway through the first half after Lewis Richardson did really well to get the wrong side of Toto Nsiala.

It was Koiki's fourth of the season for the Under-23s. The Clarets should have had a second spot kick before the break when Nsiala pulled back Joe McGlynn but the referee waved away appeals.

A second spot kick for the home side did arrive when Adam Przybek spilled a shot and brought down Richardson when trying to recover. Koiki slotted home his second and completed his treble soon after when he reacted quickest after Przybek palmed out Rchardson's low effort.

Burnley controlled the second half but the visitors grabbed a consolation in the last minute through sub Riley Scott.

The result means the Clarets remain unbeaten with back to back wins following four draws.

Steve Stone's side back in action on Monday, September 23 when they entertain Nottingham Forest at Turf Moor.

We rate the players from the clash at the Tameside Stadium.

Lukas Jensen

Debut for the Danish keeper who was vocal throughout. Didn't have a great deal to do and could do nothing with goal. 7

Ryan Cooney

Full back was an assured presence at right back and coped well with any threat posed by the visitors 7

Anthony Glennon

Captain  gave a typically tenacious performance and always looked to get forward where possible 7

Oliver Younger

Commanding in the air with a couple of early clearing headers and led the Burnley backline superbly 8

Scott Wilson

Competent performance at centre back alongside Younger 7

Ali Koiki

Hit a hat-trick in an eye catching performance to once again underline his potential 9

Adam Phillips

His set pieces caused problems  and he was a calming influence in the middle with the ability to retain possession 8

Christin N'Guessan

Didn't influence the game as much as he would have liked in the first half but grew into proceedings after the break 7

Ne-Jai Tucker

Wideman  worked hard and showed flashes of potential but is still learning at his level 6

Lewis Richardson

Fit enough to start after pulling out of international duty with England. Did really well to win both penalties and had a hand in third 8

Joe McGlynn

Worked hard up front against an experienced backline  and should have had a penalty when tugged back in the box 8

Subs

Tunde Bayode

Came on for the final few minutes but had little time to make an impact 6
