PM Narendra Modi Birthday Celebrations Highlights: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who turned 69 on Tuesday, visited Kevadiya in Gujarat to take part in the ‘Namami Narmada’ festival being celebrated by the western state’s government to mark the filling up of the Sardar Sarovar Dam (SSD) to its full reservoir level of 138.68 metres.
Modi lauded the vision of Sardar Patel, adding the BJP-led government’s decision last month on Jammu and Kashmir was an inspiration from the former home minister of India. The Union government’s decision on Kashmir is inspired
by Sardar Patel and is an attempt to find solution to a decades-old problem, Modi said at a public rally.
The Prime Minister participated in Namami Narmade Mahotsava, an event organised by the state government to mark the occasion of the Sardar Sarovar Dam crossing its Full Reservoir Level (FRL) of 138.68 metres.
Born on September 17, 1950, in Vadnagar (Gujarat), PM Modi is widely credited for being at the helm of the largest non-Congress government at the Centre since Independence. The BJP single-handedly won 303 seats in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, reducing the Grand Old Party to 52 seats.
PM Modi, who is in Gujarat today on his birthday, thanked ace sprinter Hima Das for wishing him. "Thanks a lot for your wishes. Keep on inspiring more youngsters to take up sports," he said in a tweet.
Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama on Tuesday wished Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his 69th birthday, congratulating him for the "growing confidence you have brought about". The Dalai Lama said Indian traditions of 'ahimsa' and 'karuna' are necessary in today's world. In a letter to PM Modi, he said, "As a long time guest of India, and as someone who cares deeply about this country, I congratulate you on the growing confidence you have brought about. "I was at the Sardar Sarovar Dam a few hours ago and we all proudly remember your efforts to ensure this project is completed and helps the people, especially farmers," said PM Modi while thanking former Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel for her efforts towards the completion of the project.
PM Modi thanked Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel for wishing him on his birthday.
On his birthday, PM Modi asked people to their childhood memories with him. "Reliving precious moments and special memories. I have been receiving many old photos from various friends. I am sharing few such photos with a request- if you have such memories, kindly share them with me," he wrote on Twitter.
PM Modi took blessings from his mother on his 69th birthday and also shared a meal with her in Gujarat.
Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday extended his warm wishes to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his birthday. Patnaik prayed for Modi's long and healthy life on the occasion.
"Warm birthday wishes to Prime Minister @narendramodi ji. May you be blessed with a long and healthy life," the chief minister tweeted.
Patnaik's party - the Biju Janata Dal also greeted the prime minister on his 69th birthday. "Let Lord Jagannath bless the prime minister with good health, happiness and long life," the party posted on its Twitter handle, tagging Modi. (PTI)
