    SFI Aishe Ghosh beats ABVP candidate for JNUSU president's post

    SFI's Aishe Ghosh has been elected as Jawahar Lal Nehru University Student Union president.

    Aishe Ghosh bagged 2,313 votes. SFI candidate defeat.

    In news just coming in, Left backed candidates have registered thumping victory beating ABVP. Saket Moon has been elected as the new Vice-President of JNUSU. He got 3,365 votes. 

    Satish Chandra Yadav has been elected as General Secretary.

    Mohammed Danish won for the post of Joint Secretary. 

    The results were announced after the Delhi High Court vacated its stay on the declaration.

    AIAHL maiden bonds oversubscribed 20 times; yields Rs 7,000 crore

    Overwhelming response to Air India Asset Holding Limited (AIAHL) maiden bonds issue yields Rs 7000 cr. Issue was oversubscribed 20.83 times. Bids worth Rs 20,830 cr for the bonds make it the highest ever in the yield-based bond market of BSE’s history.

    SBI Capital Markets Ltd were advisors to AIAHL in its maiden bond.

    Dormant routes have been used by the Pakistani army to infiltrate nearly 60 terrorists since the abrogation of Jammu and Kashmir's special status, officials said on Tuesday.

    This assessment comes amid intelligence inputs that there has been a surge in infiltration from across the border through higher reaches north Kashmir and Poonch and Rajouri of Jammu region.

    • Chinese benchmarks led declines in Asia after the credit ratings agency Moody's downgraded Hong Kong, citing its recent political turmoil.
    • Germany's DAX lost 0.2% to 12,358.45 while the CAC 40 in Paris added 0.1% to 5,606.73. The FTSE 100 in Britain climbed 0.2% to 7,339.26. On Wall Street, the future contracts for the Dow Jones Industrial Average and the S&P 500 both lost 0.1%.

    All options open: Piyush Goyal on merger of MMTC, STC and PEC

    Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said on Tuesday that all options are open with the ministry for closure or merger of three public sector undertakings - MMTC, STC and PEC.

    • When asked whether the government is considering to shut or merge these units, Goyal said: "All options are open".
    • He said gradually the purpose of these companies is getting eroded and they are no more canalising agencies.

    Rajeev Kumar fails to appear before CBI

    Former Kolkata police commissioner Rajeev Kumar failed to appear before the CBI on Tuesday morning in connection with the Saradha ponzi scam case, increasing the possibility of his arrest by the agency during the day, sources said.

    They said Kumar did not appear for questioning twice in spite of CBI notices after the Kolkata High Court withdrew the protection given to him from arrest on Friday.

    The agency had given him notice to appear at 10 am but he failed to turn up, they said.

    CBI has started proceeding on "other options" available to it under the law, they said.

    SBI field officer found shot dead in UP

     A State Bank of India (SBI) field officer was found shot dead at his home in Uttar Pradesh Bijnore district.

    According to reports, the victim, Chaitanya, had been transferred to Bijnore from Gorakhpur about two months ago. He was currently posted at the SBI's Sahanpur branch in Najibabad.

    The murder came to light after the house owner knocked on the door and found the flat locked from inside. He immediately called the police.

    Chaitanya was shot in the head with a licensed pistol. The house was locked from the inside and his body was lying in a pool of blood in the washroom, with the pistol near his legs, the police said.

     In a big jolt to Mayawati's Bahujan Samajwadi Party (BSP) in Rajasthan, all of its six MLAs have joined the Congress.

    With this merger, the Congress now has 106 seats in the Assembly.

    While reacting to the development that took place on Monday night, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state president Satish Punia said: "This development shows Ashok Gehlot's insecurity. Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot has questioned him on the law and order situation."

    US President Donald Trump on Monday said he has no meeting scheduled with his Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York later this month.

    "I have no meeting scheduled (with Rouhani). I know they (Iranians) want to meet," Trump told reporters at the White House.

    "I know they are not doing well as a country. Iran has got a lot of problems right now.. but two and half to three years ago they were causing a lot of trouble... and we'll see what happens," he said.
