You might no longer be able to take your Apple Macbook in hand luggage
If you're the owner of an Apple Macbook, you might not be able to turn your laptop on or charge it during upcoming flights.
EasyJet has issued a warning to passengers over a certain models of the laptop, asking them to avoid getting them out of hand luggage or the cabin while on the airplane.
If you're heading on holiday soon and are planning a movie marathon for the flight, you probably need to brush up on EasyJet's new legislation first.
The airline announced a ban on charging or turning on Apple Macbook laptops bought between September 2015 and February 2017 on flights, in order to avoid potential faulty batteries causing issues.
In a statement on the EasyJet website, a spokesperson wrote: "In light of the recent EASA guidance customers are advised that they are not allowed to switch on or charge older generation 15-inch MacBook Pro units supplied by Apple Inc, between September 2015 and February 2017 during their flight. If such a device is taken on board, the passenger is required to keep it switched off and not use or charge the device."
The EASA guidelines added: "Only selected product serial numbers are affected. Apple has offered to replace the batteries for eligible devices free of charge."
Clarifying the new rules to Express, EasyJet added: "In light of the recent EASA guidance concerning MacBook Pros, customers are not allowed to switch on or charge older generation 15-inch MacBook Pro units supplied by Apple Inc between September 2015 and February 2017 in flight.
"This guidance is highlighted on our website and the cabin crew will make PAs onboard to advise customers."
