NEW DELHI: A New Delhi special court on Tuesday sent former minister and Congress leader DK Shivakumar, who is charged with money laundering, to judicial for a day.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) had arrested Shivakumar on September 3 for inquiry and his custody was ended on Tuesday.
The disgraced leader’s lawyers had filed bail application to which the ED filed objection on Monday saying Shivakumar’s release would hamper the ongoing investigation of the case.

“The hearing won the bail application will continue on Wednesday as the arguments were incomplete on Tuesday. So, the special judge Ajay Kumar Kuhar remanded Shivakumar to judicial custody for a day,” said a lawyer representing Shivakumar.
The ED lawyers argued that the accused must be remanded to judicial custody for 14 days and the investigators should be allowed to question him in the jail as they could not complete his interrogation since Shivakumar was hospitalised for four days when he was in their custody.
Senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singvi, appearing for Shivakumar, argued that Shivakumar is suffering heat ailment and he should not be sent to judicial custody.
The judge directed ED to take Shivakumar to hospital first and see whether the doctor suggests admitting him there.
In the meantime, the ED summoned Shivakumar’s close confidant and Congress MLA from Belgavi Rural summoned to record her statement in the case. She has been asked to appear before the investigators on Thursday.
