BENGALURU: The Karnataka government on Tuesday sent a revised memorandum seeking central assistance for flood relief operations after reducing the estimation of damage from Rs 38,451 crore to Rs 35,161 crore.
Karnataka had sent the first memorandum on August 30, pegging the estimated loss at Rs 38,451 crore, but the Centre sent it back as the report included private properties such as hospital and school building which are not eligible for compensation, according to the National Disaster Relief Fund (NDRF) norms.

“After deleting the private buildings from the assessment of flood damage, the estimation of loss come down by about Rs 3,000 crore. I hope the central will realise it without any further delay,” said revenue minister R Ashoka.
He said a team of officials will leave for New Delhi for follow up action.
In the first memorandum, the state government had reported that 2.47 houses were damaged and the Centre, in its reply, had sought an actual list of beneficences. Ashoka said that enumeration of the beneficiaries for house damage is in progress.
