GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) An apartment fire that sent one person to the hospital has been ruled as ‘incendiary act’, officials said.
On Wednesday shortly before 9:30 p.m. Greenville Fire/Rescue responded to a call at 811 West 14th Street for a residential structure fire.
Upon arrival, crews found heavy smoke and flames coming from the two-story apartment building.
Crews were able to contain the fire damage to the apartment of origin.
One additional apartment had water damage.
One person was treated and transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Two adult occupants were displaced.
An investigation, performed by fire investigators along with Greenville Police Department, ruled the fire as an incendiary act.
Reports show the fire started in the bedroom.
The investigation has now been turned over to the Greenville Police Department.

Greenville Fire-Rescue received the call to Newtown Apartments off of Dickinson Ave. and West 14th Street around 9:30 p.m.
Crews arrived at smoke and flames pouring out of the building. It took less than an hour to get flames under control. Firefighters contained the blaze to one unit. Others units have water damage.
A witness tells 9 On Your Side someone woke her up and she spotted flames a short time later. Medics transported one person to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
