MUZAFFARPUR: Six police stations including the traffic police station in Muzaffarpur district will soon get new buildings.
While Sadar and Bela Industrial police stations in the town area will get new buildings, police stations located in Motipur, Hathaudi and Karja area in different blocks of the district will also get new accommodations.
Sources in Muzaffarpur police said that a proposal in this regard has been prepared after identifying plots.

Giving details, Muzaffarpur SSP Manoj Kumar said buildings for all police stations will be constructed under the modernisation programme of Bihar police. “Many police stations are running from rented accommodations, which are now in a dilapidated condition. Policemen have to face a lot of difficulties. Accordingly, the department prepared a detailed report for constructions of new buildings. The report was sent to the state government through the police headquarters. We have identified some plots on which these buildings will be constructed.”
He added: “The transfer of holdings of these plots is in its last leg and the construction work will commence once the proposal for transfer of land is approved by the district administration. It will be carried out by the Police Building Construction Corporation.”
Notably, Muzaffarpur sadar police station is running from a dilapidated and abandoned building of a private management college located near Bhagwanpur locality. Trees and shrubs have grown up on the rooftop of the building. “We have to face many hardships as poisonous reptiles often move around these shrubs. A new building for the police station is a welcome move,” said an officer of the Sadar police station on the condition of anonymity.

Motipur police station is also running from a building owned by the Motipur sugar factory. The barrack and the lock-up is situated in a nearby factory building. Hathaudi police station is running from a rented house, while the Bela Industrial area police station functions from a building owned by the Bihar Industrial Area Development Authority (BIADA). The SSP said that BIADA has given its consent to give a plot of land for construction of a new building for the police station.
The district administration has also decided to give land for construction of traffic police station besides Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium at Sikandarpur locality under the Town police station area. The traffic police station now functions from the building of Town police station in Motijheel area.
