This weekend sees summer return to Liverpool, with brilliant sunshine and temperatures in the mid 20s, but it won't last for long.

While Saturday will see many across Merseyside reaching for the suncream, by Monday we'll be hunting out our umbrellas.

The aftermath of Hurricane Humberto will hit the UK on Monday and Liverpool will be battered by thunderstorms and heavy rain.

Rain will dominate our weather next week, with thunderstorms predicted for Tuesday across Merseyside.

Simon Partridge, a Met Office forecaster, told Mirror Online: "The remnants of Hurricane Humberto are expected to arrive across the UK on late Monday.

"It will bring some outbreaks of rain and some stronger winds. There's potential for some strong winds and maybe a few gales around western coasts.

People across Merseyside should brace for heavy showers and strong winds

"Next week will feel more Autumnal than this week and will be a more unsettled affair."

Hurricane Humberto knocked out power lines in Bermuda on Wednesday night, plunging the islands into darkness.

The hurricane is now moving to the north of the islands, before it is due to move across the Atlantic over the next few days.

The Met Office Outlook for Saturday to Monday for the North West: "Warm, sunny and breezy on Saturday. Rain and showers, some heavy and potentially thundery, on Sunday. Rain and wind arriving later on Monday after a dry start."
