Friday will see hundreds of thousands of people take to the streets across the world to demand action on the climate crisis.

This will inevitably cause some disruption but the cause deserves our support.

The need to act could not be more urgent. Sea levels are rising, oceans are dangerously polluted and severe weather is more frequent.

If we fail to reverse global warming large parts of the planet will become unhabitable leading to migration on a scale never seen.

In Britain we will see more flooding, native birds and animals put at risk of extinction and greater coastal erosion.

The temperature rise could bring diseases such as Zika and malaria.

Some damage due to changing climate is already irreversible.

It should be a matter of shame that we are failing our children and grandchildren by bequeathing them an uncertain future on a sick and polluted planet.

This is an international catastrophe and today’s demonstrations will send the message that it requires an international response.

Ruled by oafs

The most expensive education money can buy may not teach you good manners or common decency.

That much is clear from the behaviour of David Cameron and Boris Johnson.

When one is not lying to the Queen the other is breaking every protocol by spilling the details of private talks with Her Majesty.

If a Labour Prime Minister had done this there would be outrage from traditionalists.

But no Labour PM has ever treated the monarchy with such disdain.

It is not just the Queen who should be appalled by the arrogance of Cameron and Johnson. If they care so little about her feelings, they will care even less about rest of us.

Maj-ical tunes

The Queen is reported to be a big fan of 80s pop sensation Wham!

Her favourite song must be Club TropicanER.
