MUZAFFARPUR: State industries minister Shyam Rajak, who is also the minister incharge of Muzaffarpur district, has expressed displeasure over non-implementation of several schemes of the education department in the district.
Rajak made observations in this regard while reviewing the progress of development work and other projects, while holding a meeting with the officials of all the major departments on Wednesday.
Expressing concern over poor educational scenarios in the district, Rajak asked the district education officer to resolve all pending complaints within 14 days.
Earlier, Minapur RJD MLA Rajesh Kumar alias Munna Yadav raised questions over poor functioning of the education department. “I pointed out non-formation of management committees in newly-sanctioned and upgraded schools. Nearly one-third of such schools are running without any management committee. This is a major hurdle in smooth functioning of schools,” Yadav told this newspaper.
Giving details of the meeting, district public relation officer (DPRO) Kamal Singh said, “Paru BJP MLA Ashok Kumar Singh raised questions over irregularities in execution of the Integrated Child Development Schemes (ICDS) scheme of social welfare department. He said that around three-fourth of anganwadi centres in the district are running from rented accommodations. The minister directed the additional district magistrate (revenue) to identify land for construction of anganwadi centres,” the DPRO said.
Sources said that 2,579 out of 4,006 anganwadi centres in the district are running from hired buildings. Reviewing the progress of the schemes under food and consumer protection department, Rajak asked the district supply officer to complete the verification work of beneficiaries as soon as possible.
“The minister asked them to delete names of the unwanted beneficiaries of the government schemes from the list. Even their ration cards must be seized. The district supply officer informed him that names of 1,2,771 beneficiaries have already been removed from the list,” the DPRO said.
