The Pawleys Island police chief was named in an investigation of a possible indecent exposure call at a Murrells Inlet bar.

According to an incident report from the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office, on Sept. 14 around 7:40 p.m., dispatch learned of a possible indecent exposure call at the Beaver Bar.

Later that night, officials made contact with the complainant in a hospital parking lot.

53-year-old Michael Fanning was named in the report as a suspect.

The Georgetown County Sheriff's Office is sending all information and materials to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED).

ABC News 4 reached out to SLED on Friday night. In response, the agency said the investigation continues.

Chief Fanning said he wished he could speak freely about the allegation, but referred ABC News 4 to his attorney instead.

Fanning's lawyer Joe McCulloch told The Sun News his client is cooperating with the investigation, and the allegation is without basis.
