Christmas has always been a big time for the cinema and that's especially true with the release of the latest Star Wars film.

The Rise of Skywalker hit the big screen just before Christmas but it's this time where the turkey has been eaten and there's not much on telly that many choose to take a trip to the cinema.

But sometimes, you can get more than you bargained for.

Between the noisy eaters practically perforating your eardrums, the sticky floors and those slurping the last of their giant buckets of drink, your enjoyment of a Galaxy far far away could be impaired.

So here are five things you should never do, or run the risk of sparking some serious Star Wars cinema rage.

NOT SWITCHING YOUR PHONE OFF

Who are you planning on talking to during the coolest light sabre fight we've ever seen?

There’s nothing like the shrill of a ringtone to totally ruin a cinematic moment.

If you really need to keep it on, put it on silent and turn down the brightness of the screen so you can check it without blinding the whole cinema. Simple.

GO WHEN YOU’RE SICK

Because what we all really want is to be sat next to someone in a confined space in the dark who is coughing all over you and sneezing every five seconds.

I genuinely sat next to a guy who peeled the skin of his arm for the entire film, and it was not a pleasant experience.

If you’re ill or have an itch you just can’t leave alone, stay at home.

You’ll enjoy the movie much more too when you’re better.

NOISY EATERS

Who seriously brings crisps to munch on at the cinema?

But I’ve seen it – and worse.

Save the crunchy snacks for a place when you’re not surrounded by strangers trying to enjoy a film.

It’s particularly annoying at a super tense moment in a horror film.

GET OVER-AMOROUS

I’m not talking about holding hands and having the odd kiss on a cinema date.

But it’s a little bit distracting when the people next to you are trying to suck each other’s faces off.

NARRATE THE MOVIE

The person you’re watching the movie with is seeing and hearing exactly the same thing as you.

So why do some people feel the need to narrate the whole movie and comment on each scene right there and then?

The best bit about the cinema is rushing out at the end and talking about the film the whole way home anyway.

And if you insist on going and seeing the latest and final installment of the Star Wars saga, make sure you're up to speed on the story.

The last thing we want is to hear you asking
