Award Abu-Ghazaleh Receives ‘Supportive Economic Personality of the Year for Islamic Banking Business 2019’

The Regional Network for Social Responsibility (CSR) has  honored HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, founder and chairman of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Global (TAG.Global), with the ‘Supportive Economic Personality of the Year for Islamic Banking Business 2019” Award during the 4th CSR Islamic Banks Conference in Kuwait.

The conference, organized by the Regional Network for Social Responsibility in strategic partnership with Al Baraka Banking Group and the Arab Planning Institute (API) in Kuwait in collaboration with the Global Center of Sustainable Development and the Superior Achievement Institute for Training, Economic, Administrative and Financial Consulting, was held at the API headquarters under the honorary patronage of Mr. Adnan Ahmad Yousif, CSR International Ambassador, and chaired by Dr. Bader Othman, API Director General in the presence of a host of high-ranking international and Arab dignitaries.

According to the Higher Organizing Committee of the Conference, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh was selected to receive the Award in recognition of his role in supporting banks in Arab region as well as enhancing and boosting the Arab economy as a whole.

For his part, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh expressed his pride in receiving this honor noting that Social responsibility initiatives carried out by Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Foundation (TAG-Foundation), include all Arab countries. He called on all investors to be part of this mission to serve all communities.

Furthermore, Dr.  Abu-Ghazaleh stated that social responsibility is one of the basic tools of economic balance in society, pointing out that the concept of social responsibility was the main reason for launching the UN Global Compact in 2000 of which Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh was Vice Chair with UN Secretaries General Kofi Annan and Ban Ki-moon.

It is worth noting that the conference aims at shedding light on the role of financial institutions and Islamic banks in community service fields reviewing the best Islamic and international practices in promoting the role of Islamic banking efforts in enhancing partnership practices and social responsibility.

Meanwhile, participants reviewed various creative experiments and success stories, in addition to organizing expertise exchange forum in the banking leadership field that enhances CSR practices, specialized workshops on preparing international reports for partnership and CSR, and innovation in preparing and implementing CSR projects and programs.
