Scratch, bite marks on Nazrana Ansari’s arm
MUMBAI: An argument between two female commuters over jostling in the crowded compartment of a WR local ended with one of them physically assaulting the other. Nazrana Ansari (35), a realty firm employee, was badly injured after the unidentified 'bully' bit her, and dug her nails into her arm and neck.
Following her daily routine, Ansari boarded the 7.16pm Borivli slow local at Lower Parel on Monday.
As those are peak hours, she had to squeeze herself onto the crowded train. Another female passenger who was at the door, pushed Ansari in the ribs. "She accused me of leaning too heavily on her. I told her she could talk it out with me instead of pushing me, as I could have fallen off. The coach was packed, so there was bound to be some jostling," said Ansari.
At Prabhadevi, as more commuters got on, the accused pushed Ansari again. "She thought I was shifting my weight on her again. I requested her to move inside as I had to get off at Dadar, but she grabbed my arm," said Ansari. The argument escalated, Ansari grabbed the woman's arm too. "When she finally let go, I noticed scratch marks all over. I told her to come with me to the police station, but she refused and pushed me again. I tried to make her come with me at Matunga station, but she bit my arm," said Ansari.
Other commuters who witnessed the tussle intervened and pulled the accused woman into the compartment. "They told me to get off the train and lodge an FIR. That's when I realised that my ruby ring worth Rs 9,000 had fallen off when the woman had grabbed my arm. I tried to look for it, but the coach was too crowded. The woman got off at Mahim and fled. I got off at Bandra and went to the chowky," Ansari said.
The police took her to Bhabha Hospital for a medical examination and then lodged an FIR. Since the incident had occurred between Lower Parel and Mahim, the case was transferred to the Mumbai Central railway police. They are looking for the culprit. Ansari gave the police a picture of the accused, but they are yet to find her.
