Washington County man charged with attempted murder after shooting overnight guest
A Washington County man has been charged with attempted murder after police said he shot a man multiple times.Police arrested Roger Root, 66, of Vallonia, after responding to the 10000 block of North Hattabaugh Road around 5 a.m. Sunday.Investigators said Root shot an overnight guest who was staying at the residence. Police said Root was also an overnight guest at the home.The victim was transported by car to St. Vincent Hospital in Salem, but he was later taken to University of Louisville Hospital.Police said the victim is in stable condition. The events that led up to the shooting are still under investigation.Root is being held at the Washington County Jail.
