Kernel tennis wins every set in sweep of Spearfish

Up-and-down the lineup, the Mitchell High School girls tennis team delivered on Saturday at Hitchcock Park. The Kernels didn’t drop a set as it defeated Spearfish, 9-0.

Kiersten Bathke won all 12 games against Maddy Reichert in Flight 4, while Amber Moller (Flight 5) and Atlanta Stahle (Flight 2) both dropped just one game.

Kelsey Dahme took down Silvee McCoy, 6-3, 6-4, at Flight 1, then teamed up with Stahle in Flight 1 doubles to beat McCoy/Anna Engen, 6-1, 6-0. The Kernels handily took the final two flights in doubles play, as well.

Olivia Huber/Moller took down Lauren Strand/Reichert, 6-4, 6-0, at Flight 2. Meanwhile, Bathke/Allison Mastel won over Kate Mondloch/Rebecca Anglin, 6-3, 6-1, at Flight 3.

Huber and Jones both notched a win in singles play to help the Kernels complete the sweep of Spearfish.

Mitchell hosts Madison at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Hitchcock Park.
