The 71st Emmy Awards was held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

The Primetime Emmy Awards are television’s biggest night. Much like the Academy Awards (the Oscars) for films, and Grammy Awards for music, the Emmys are the most prestigious awards for the small screen medium.

The big winners of the night were Fleabag (Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series for Harry Bradbeer, Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series for Phoebe Waller-Bridge), Game of Thrones (Outstanding Drama Series and Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for Peter Dinklage), Chernobyl (Outstanding Limited Series, Outstanding Directing for a Limited Series, Movie or Dramatic Special for Johan Renck and Outstanding Writing for a Limited Series, Movie, or Dramatic Special for Craig Mazin), Billy Porter (Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series), Jodie Comer (Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series), Bill Hader (Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series) and Last Week Tonight with John Oliver (Outstanding Variety Talk Series and Outstanding Writing – Variety Series) among others.
