A selection of eight movies from four Nordic countries will be presented at the "Nordic Film Festival 2019", taking place at Quartier CineArt, 4th floor of EmQuartier, Sukhumvit Road, from Friday to Sunday.

Organised by the embassies of Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden, this year's festival will highlight the success of Nordic films and celebrate Nordic culture while also shedding light on sustainability and climate change, which are high on the agenda of all the Nordic countries.

The festival opens with My Stuff, an experimental Finnish documentary about consumerism and the value of material objects in the digital age on Friday at 6pm. This will be followed by Danish drama Darling, about a world-famous ballerina and her dramatic mid-career meltdown at 8pm.

Three movies will be screened on Saturday: Danish adventure I Am William, about a boy and his uncle, at 3pm; Swedish drama Monky, about a boy and his secret friendship with a gibbon, at 5pm; and Norwegian drama What Will People Say, a tense, touching story of a 16-year-old Norwegian-Pakistani girl trying to discover her own path in life, at 7.30pm.

Sunday's schedule features The Liverpool Goalie, a Norwegian comedy about a young schoolboy hunting desperately for a rare football card that he believes will solve all his problems, at 3pm; One Last Deal, a Finnish drama about an elderly art dealer who hopes to make one last deal and prove his worth to his estranged family, at 5pm; and Becoming Astrid which recounts the early life of Swedish author Astrid Lindgren, at 7.30pm.

All movies will be shown with English subtitles. Admission is free but reservations should be made 30 minutes before each screening. Tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
