Jordan- House speaker meets Kazakh officials, discusses opening air cargo shipping route


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, Sep.23 (Petra)-- Speaker of the Lower House of Parliament, Atef Tarawneh held meeting with his Kazakh counterpart, Nurlan Nigmatulin, Kazakh Deputy Prime Minister, Roman Sklyar, and Minister of Agriculture Saparkhan Omarov.
In the meeting, held in Kazakhstan, Tarawneh stressed the importance of continuing bilateral cooperation between the two countries in all fields, especially in the economic and commercial spheres.
He also emphasized the importance of operating a direct economic air cargo route between the two countries to increase trade exchange, and signing a bilateral agreement in the field of investment to serve as a legal framework to promote investment and establish joint investment projects.
Tarawneh highlighted the need to activate the role of the Kazakh-Jordanian Businessmen Council to increase trade and investment exchange volumes, and to open direct air routes between the two countries to increase the number of tourists.
Kazakh Deputy Prime Minister said the air cargo shipping route will be ready within ten days.
He added that he will work on facilitating the issue of Jordanian businessmen entering to Kazakhstan without a visa, and he will intensify work to resolve it with his country's Foreign Affairs Ministry as soon as possible.
Tarawneh said Jordan and Kazakhstan have the same positions, and Jordan has consistently supported Kazakhstan's initiatives on the international stage, especially in the field of nuclear disarmament, as well as its initiative in the Astana talks on Syria, in which Jordan has an active participation.
He pointed out to the importance of coordinating joint parliamentary positions, especially on the Palestinian issue.
He said Jordan will remain firm on its principles in supporting Palestinian brothers and defending Jerusalem, holding on the Hashemite custodianship.
Chairman of the Kazakh Majilis called on exchanging visits of officials from public and private sectors to explore investments opportunities in both countries.
He pointed out the importance of enhancing cooperation in the fields of agriculture, transport and railways, as well as in pharmaceutical products, in the energy sector and cultural and educational exchange.
Tarawneh's meetings come a day before his participation in the Eurasian Parliaments fourth meeting, which will be held with the participation of 90 parliamentarians and international and inter-parliamentary organizations in Asia and Europe.
