Barely a footballing weekend goes by without VAR dominating the headlines or social media agenda - and the most recent round of fixtures was no different.

Events at The Emirates - when the visiting team was denied a strong penalty claim as they looked for a late equaliser, were just the latest.

And the loss of Birmingham City’s home record was not without its controversies either.

Many felt Blues should have been awarded a spot-kick after Maxime Colin’s cross was deflected by Ben Davies’ hand.

Alvaro Gimenez also had a goal ruled out for offside, replays showed it was tight but probably a correct decision, while Preston boss Alex Neil also claimed his side should have had a first half spot-kick.

And incidents in Charlton’s loss at Wigan prompted Addicks boss Lee Bowyer to suggest replay technology should be introduced into the Championship.

“If it’s that important that they get the right decision for the Premier League, then why is it not as important in our division? You’ve got teams that are trying to get into the Premier League,” the former Blues midfielder pointed out.

This is what Birmingham City supporters, who were angered by Steve Martin’s officiating , think about that particular issue.

@acrowflies: Introducing competent officials would be a start. Martin was a disgrace

@JackHickstar: No no no

Alvaro Gimenez and Danny Batth tussle, but no penalty given

@Bartinho19: Maybe with some of the refs we get down St Andrews might actually help us

@59featuring4an8: Could we just lose the ref’s anyway....??

Would you like VAR to be introduced into the Championship?

@DanP5010: Just getting a championship official to do the basics correct would be a start . Introducing VAR to them will cause them a meltdown and make things worse

@Coop8517: Nope

@BradGrovesFurse: Absolutely not

@AWCAIB: Officials are not good enough in this division to make season changing decisions. Cannot accept a world where we miss out on the play offs by a point on the last day of the season when a ref gives a pen against us incorrectly. It must be introduced

@paul0991: No thank you.

@kpc1875: Never. I’d like to see officials do their job. Properly.

@James_Fielden: Where are the extra cameras, cameramen and referees going to come from?

@OllyHowarth99: Na I can’t be dealing with it tbh

@chrisquinn3: Absolutely not.

@andygurney: I’d rather stand barefoot on Lego!

@trublue1875: No way, the standard of reffing in the championship is bad enough lol
