It is chaos on Teesside's roads this morning. 

Broken down vehicles and a "police incident" are causing massive delays on the A19 and A66. 

A1032 Newport Bridge is closed in both directions, while one lane of the A19 southbound is blocked. 

Traffic is also heavier than normal on the A66 and A689.

Traffic easing

Traffic is now easing across Teesside after the rush hour delays this morning.

Newport bridge was closed due to a police incident while one lane of the A19 was closed due to a broken down tanker.

Both re-opened at around 8.50am.

Long delays remain due to earlier broken down car on the A19 Southbound from A1027 (Norton Interchange) to A1046 Haverton Hill Road (Portrack Interchange).

Congestion goes back to Wolviston.

There are still delays on the A19, A66 and A1046 after a series of incidents.

Newport Bridge has reopened while a broken down car on the A19 has been recovered.

Cleveland Police confirmed Newport Bridge has reopened.

It closed for four hours due to a “police incident”.

Problems on the A19 are causing massive delays, with traffic queuing all the way back to Elwick in County Durham.

The long delays are due to an broken down car on the southbound carriageway. All lanes have now reopened.

A1032 Newport Bridge is closed in both directions due to a “police incident”.

It is causing congestion to Macmillan Academy on Stockton Road and along Haverton Hill Road.
