Post Malone’s New Album Is Already Tied For The Third-Most Top 10 Hits

This article is more than 4 years old.

Post Malone made headlines this chart week by landing four songs inside the top 10 on the Hot 100 at the same time, which is not a first, but which remains a rare feat that only a few musicians have been able to achieve. In fact, only two artists have performed better in a single chart frame when it comes to owning the most real estate inside the Hot 100’s top tier (The Beatles once controlled five spots and Drake holds the record with seven simultaneous top 10s).

Four top 10 hits is absolutely something to celebrate, but it doesn’t tell the full story of how successful his new album Hollywood’s Bleeding already is when looking solely at the Hot 100’s top 10. In addition to the four songs present inside the highest region at this moment, the full-length has produced another smash that found space between Nos. 1 and 10, though it’s not there now.

Currently, Malone’s singles “Goodbyes” with Young Thug, “Circles,” “Take What You Want” with Travis Scott and Ozzy Osbourne and “Sunflower” with Swae Lee all occupy a spot within the top 10. Previously, another proper single from the collection, “Wow.,” peaked at No. 2, held back from becoming another leader for the musician by Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road.”

Hollywood’s Bleeding has now sent five tracks into the top 10 on the Hot 100, which ties a record set by quite a few other albums released by superstars for the third-most such wins. There are at least 15 albums in history that have produced five top 10 hits, including releases from Madonna, Janet Jackson, Bon Jovi and New Kids on the Block, to name just a few. The most recent projects that have pushed exactly five singles into the top 10 include Taylor Swift’s 1989, The Black Eyed Peas’ The E.N.D. and Fergie’s The Dutchess.

Four titles have sent exactly six songs into the Hot 100’s top 10: Michael Jackson’s Bad, George Michael’s Faith, Janet Jackson’s Janet. and Katy Perry’s Teenage Dream

Just four other albums have made it to seven top 10 singles, which currently stands as the most impressive performance among all albums in U.S. history: Michael Jackson’s Thriller, Bruce Springsteen’ Born in the U.S.A., Janet Jackson’s Janet Jackson's Rhythm Nation 1814 and Drake’s Scorpion (which holds the record for the most simultaneous top 10 hits, with seven).

Hollywood’s Bleeding has only charted for one frame, though Malone has been rolling out tracks from the project for months. It’s entirely possible he will focus his attention on another track from his third full-length, and the set could eventually move on up the ranking of the albums that have produced the most top 10 hits.
