Three boys arrested over music video that ended with police face-off

By Laura Chung

Three boys have been charged over their alleged involvement in a music video that ended with a police face-off in Sydney’s south-west last week.

On September 14, about 40 men were filming a music video in a car park behind a shopping centre on Dobell Road in Claymore, when police asked the group to move on.

The three 17-year-old boys were charged with several offences, including throwing a missile at police.

Officers were called to the carpark over concerns about the size of the group and reports that some of the men were drinking.

Intially the men left the area, only to return later. Police approached the group again when it’s alleged the men yelled abuse, and threw bottle of beers and lit flares.

Officers used capsicum spray, while the Dog Squad, Public Order and Riot Squad, and the South-West Metropolitan Region Enforcement Squad were called for backup.

Following inquiries by detectives, a 17-year-old Oran Park male was arrested on September 17 and charged with multiple offences, including throwing a missile at police officers and riot and affray.

He was granted conditional bail to appear at a children’s court on October 14.

Further inquiries led to the arrest of two 17-year-old boys on Monday morning in Sydney’s south-west.

The Glen Alpine boy was charged with several charges, including throwing a missile at a police officer, possessing a weapon capable of discharging an irritant matter, and riot and affray.

The other boy, from Bradbury, was charged with two counts of throwing a missile at a police officer, and riot and affray.

Both boys were refused bail to appear at a children’s court on Monday.

Inquiries continue.
