Hyderabad: On the instructions of Minister KT Rama Rao the Managing Director of L&T MRHL, NVS Reddy directed the L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad to award a compensation of Rs. 20 Lakh to family members of woman who died when a piece of plaster of Ameerpet Metro Station fell on her on head Saturday.
Government of Telangana State has taken a serious view of the accident that happened at Ameerpet metro station on Saturday.
Minister for Municipal Administration & Urban Development Mr K.T. Rama Rao instructed the Managing Director of L&T MRHL, NVS Reddy to get the matter thoroughly investigated by independent engineering experts and take the required remedial measures.
The representatives of the victim’s side sought a job for the sister of deceased in L&T. The company will seriously consider the request on the basis on suitability and requirement of LTC on compassionate grounds. The compensation will be paid in 10 days.
As per the agreement, “the legal heirs of the deceased will not file any claim, criminal action against L&T and its officials for the accident happened without any willful default of LTC and or its related company.” NVS Reddy said.
Though the accident may be a freak one, he emphasised that it needs to be taken very seriously and all the station structures and facilities shall be minutely checked, so that such unfortunate incidents do not recur.
The reputation gained by Hyderabad metro for its high quality and safety standards shall be maintained & safety shall be a high priority at all times, he reiterated.
Further NVS Reddy told that, as advised by the Minister, I instructed L&T to pay adequate compensation to the victim’s family.
Accordingly, L&T management held discussions with her family members and amicably settled & signed an agreement to pay a compensation of Rs 20 lakh.
Minister KTR emphasised that the incident needs to be taken very seriously and all the station structures and facilities must be minutely checked so that such unfortunate incidents do not recur. The reputation gained by Hyderabad Metro for its high quality and safety standards will be maintained and safety will be a high priority at all times, KTR said.
Meanwhile, a message was being shared on WhatsApp that a chunk of plaster from a Metro pillar fell off at Rasoolpura Metro station on Monday.
However, HMRL said, “It’s a rumour floated by some mischief maker. L&TMRHL has checked up and clarified that no plaster piece fell at Rasoolpura station.”
