Suspect in Beed teacher’s murder arrested from Pune

PUNE: One of the suspects in the murder of Sainik School teacher in Maarashtra's Beed district was arrested from Sayyadnagar at Hadapsar in Pune on Tuesday.
Amar Akbar Shaikh (30), a criminal on the records of the Beed police, was hiding in Sayyadnagar after hacking Syed Sajid Ali (30) on Thursday (September 19) afternoon while the latter was having tea at Sana functional hall on Ahmednagar Road in Beed.
The police registered an offence against a criminal Anwar Khan Mirza alias Gujar Khan’s gang.
Following the murder, the Beed police had swung into action and had arrested three members of the Gujar Khan members, while another suspects involved in the murder are still on the run.
Tension had prevailed in Beed after the relatives of Ali had refused to claim the body, demanding immediate arrest of the all the suspects. Beed police have fanned several teams to arrest the suspects involved in Ali’s murder.
Meanwhile, police constables attached to the Hadapsar police Nitin Mundhe and Shahid Shaikh received a tip-off that one of the assailants of Ali has been hiding in Sayyadnagar in Hadapsar. He has sustained injuries near his ankle and would be coming near railway gate at Hadapsar. “We laid a trap and took the suspect Shaikh into custody,” said Raghunath Jadhav, senior inspector of the Hadapsar police.
Jadhav said that Shaikh has been handed over to the Beed police for further probe. “Shaikh who is active member of the Gujar Khan gang has seven cases registered against him at different police stations in Beed,” Jadhav said.
