PATNA: Bihar CM Nitish Kumar on Wednesday laid foundation stone for the state’s first forestry college that will come in Munger at a cost of Rs 105 crore.
He also laid the foundation stone for a government engineering college that will be constructed at a cost of Rs 80 crore.
The CM unveiled the stone plaques for both the institutions through a remote control from a function organised at the Polo Ground in Munger town, about 180 km east from the state capital.

Addressing the function, Nitish said the state government was ready to open a medical college in and around divisional town of Munger, if the district administration provides a chunk of 20 acres of land.
CM was responding to Munger MLA Vijay Kumar Vijay’s demand for setting up a medical college in the divisional headquarters. “We too wish to set up a medical college here. But for it, we require land. The local MLA and the local administration should first search out a plot of 20 acres of land and come with a proposal. The state government will consider it,” Nitish said evoking applause from the audience.

Once completed, the forestry college will attract people from many parts of the globe,” he said, adding the number of visitors at Munger would increase after such institutions start functioning.
CM further said that the state government had been opening engineering colleges, polytechnic institutions, para-medical institutes, GNM schools and woman ITIs in each district under its ‘Saat Nischay’ (Seven Resolves) programme.
