CM Nitish Kumar lays stone for Bihar’s first forestry college in Munger

Chief minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday laid the foundation stone for a government engineering college in Munger which will be constructed at a cost of Rs 80 crore. He also launched the commencement of construction work for the state’s first forestry college that will come up at an expense of 105 crore.

PATNA: Chief minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday laid the foundation stone for a government engineering college in Munger which will be constructed at a cost of Rs 80 crore. He also launched the commencement of construction work for the state’s first forestry college that will come up at an expense of 105 crore.
The CM unveiled the stone plaques for both the institutions through a remote control during a function organized at the Polo Ground in Munger town.

He said the forestry college at Munger will be unique in its own way. “It will take an impressive shape like the world famous Munger School of Yoga in the future. Once completed, the forestry college will attract people from many parts of the country,” the CM said adding, “The number of visitors in Munger would increase once these institutions start functioning.”
Addressing the function, Nitish said the state government is ready to open a medical college in Munger also if the district administration provides 20 acres of land. He was responding to Munger MLA Vijay Kumar Vijay’s demand for setting up a medical college in Munger. “We too wish to set up a medical college here. But for that we require land. The local MLA and the local administration should first search a plot of 20 acres and then come up with a proposal. The state government will consider it,” Nitish said evoking applause from the audience.
Nitish said he too intends to provide more facilities to Munger so that the historic city can progress further.
Nitish said the state government is opening engineering colleges, polytechnic institutions, para-medical institutes, GNM school and woman ITIs in each district under its ‘Saat Nischay’ (seven resolves) programme. Deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi, building construction minister Ashok Choudhary, science and technology minister Jai Kumar Singh and rural works minister Shailesh Kumar also addressed the function.
