NEW DELHI: Two men who had a grudge against the residents of a colony in Rohini for getting them arrested set a dozen cars and bikes on fire at the colony to take revenge. One of them was jailed for 20 days last month for molesting a woman in the colony while he was drunk. After being released from jail, the man roped in an associate to teach the residents a lesson.
The men, Akash and Kuldeep, were caught after a probe into the fire incident revealed that they were seen around the area a few hours before the incident.
A police team reached their residence and got hold of them.
During interrogation, Akash confessed to the cops that they had set the vehicles on fire. He said that he was addicted to alcohol and was sent to jail after he had inappropriately touched a woman in the area while he was drunk. When the woman raised an alarm, Akash was caught by the locals, thrashed and then handed over to the cops.
Ever since he was lodged in jail, Akash had nursed a grudge against the locals in the community and decided to teach them a lesson. When he was released after 20 days, he returned home and roped in Kuldeep for the revenge.
On September 23, they reached the colony and poured petrol on six vehicles to set them on fire. Two days later, they again returned and set fire to two other cars and four two-wheelers.
During interrogation, they also revealed that they were involved in five theft cases in the area in the past few days. Cases of theft were also registered against them after this.
