Para (Purulia): A bid by a
mob to lynch two ‘suspected child-lifters’ was foiled here on Friday morning. The mob, though, torched their SUV and attacked a police outpost where cops had taken the duo.
Three policemen, including Para police station officer-in-charge Biswajit Banerjee, were injured. They were sent to Para hospital.
The trouble started around 10.30am at Anara railway colony over rumours that two youths were child-lifters.
Ten people have been detained while the two who escaped being lynched are at Raghunathpur hospital. Police have learnt that they are from Jharkhand but haven’t identified them.
