WARANGAL: Nine-day-long
flowers festival Bathukamma began on Saturday in
Telangana. Government official celebrations were declared open jointly by tourism minister Srinivas Goud, PR minister E Dayakar Rao, tribal welfare minister Satyawathi Rathod at Thousand Pillar Temple in Warangal on Saturday.
Speaking at the meeting, Srinivas Goud said that
Bathukamma was a mark of sacrifice and the festival was dishonoured in the united state.
Now, Bathukamma is celebrated in about ten countries in the world, he said.
Thousands of woman assembled at the temple with colourful Bathukammas and played kolatam. GWMC authorities made elaborate arrangements for the same.
