HYDERABAD/WARANGAL: The second year B.Tech student from Balaji Institute of Technology and Science, who was brutally attacked by dogs, outside her hostel in Warangal has undergone two surgeries and is awaiting the third. N Ramya was mauled on Thursday night and continues to remain serious, say family and friends.
Shweta Chimmani, Ramya’s classmate said the two of them had just got out of the hostel when they came across two dogs.
“The dogs are usually tied, but that day they were not on a leash. They attacked us without provocation,” she said adding that the watchman was not present. “If he was around, we might have been safe,” she said.
Ramya is undergoing treatment at CARE Hospitals, Banjara Hills. Sources said she has undergone plastic and vascular surgery. “Another surgery is scheduled for Monday,” a source said.
Meanwhile, anger and fear was palpable at Ramya’s college in Narsampet. “I left college after hearing about the incident. I am afraid of staying there,” said a student on condition of anonymity.
Parthasarthy, district secretary, Warangal rural, AISF, which has been staging dharnas against the college management on the issue, said there were several matters of concern. “No one helped the girl when she was being attacked. The dogs were being kept by authorities, then how could they not be around when they were unleashed?” he asked, adding that parents were informed very late about the incident. “We will meet with the cops again and ask that a case be booked in this regard. The management must bear the complete cost of cost,” he said.
