FRA Clarifies On EFL Power Poles Obstructing Cycle Lanes, Nakasi-Rewa Bridge

There has been much comment on social media about the Energy Fiji Limited (EFL) power poles obstructing the cycle lanes on parts of the newly opened section of Kings Road from Nakasi to Rewa Bridge.

There has been much comment on social media about the Energy Fiji Limited (EFL) power poles obstructing the cycle lanes on parts of the newly opened section of Kings Road from
Nakasi to Rewa Bridge.
As explained at the opening of the four-lane section, there is future piece of work to put cables below ground, at the back of the cycle lane. The poles cannot be removed until the underground cables are laid and power supplies reconnected.
In the meantime, we have closed certain sections of the cycle lane with barricades.
The FRA could have held the opening of the four-lane road until this work had been completed but we felt it more important to open the road to four-lane traffic as soon as we could.
