VPS Healthcare opened its 23rd hospital - Burjeel Specialty Hospital - in Sharjah. The medicare facility at Al Kuwait Street was inaugurated by Sheikh Salim bin Abdul Rahman bin Salim Al Qasimi, Court Chief of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah.
The 75-bed, 16,000sqm hospital will now cater to all the medical needs of residents of the emirate round-the-clock.
The inauguration was attended by dignitaries including Abdulla Ali Al Mahyan, chairman of the Sharjah Health Authority; Dr Abdulaziz bin Butti Al Muhairi, director of the Sharjah Health Authority; Dr Amin Hussein Al Amiri, assistant under-secretary for public health policy and the licensing sector at the Ministry of Health and Prevention; Mohammed Abdullah Al Zarooni, director of Sharjah Medical Zone; Brig-Gen Arif Mohammed Al Sharif, director-general of the human resources and support services department of Sharjah Police.
The multispecialty hospital has various specialties including cardiology, ophthalmology, orthopaedics, women and child care, bariatric surgery, family medicine, internal medicine, ENT, dermatology, diet and nutrition, pulmonology and dentistry. It also has the most advanced radiology and laboratory facilities.
Speaking at the inaugural function, VPS Healthcare chairman and managing director Dr Shamsheer Vayalil said: "The medical facility will be providing quality and affordable services to the people of the emirate. We have eminent doctors on board with proven skills. We are committed to redefining the healthcare sector in Sharjah."
