ALLAHABAD: A couple and their a 10-month-old girparents were found dead in one of the rooms of their house in Gopalpur village under Manjhanpur police station of Kaushambi district on Saturday.
According to SP (Kaushambhi) Pradeep Gupta, the deceased members of a joint family were identified as Bansi Lal (28), his wife Asha (26) and their 10-month-old daughter Laxmi.

Bansi and his four younger brothers used to live with their parents, Babulal and Shushila. Labourer by profession, Bansi often fought with his wife on petty issues. On Friday night, Babulal had gone to his in-laws’ place along with Sushila and one of their sons. The other three brothers had gone to a Durga Puja pandal in their village.
On Saturday morning, the family found Bansi’s room locked from inside. When there no response even after repeated knocks, they informed the police who broke open the door and found Bansi, Asha and Laxmi dead. “Although we have sent the bodies for autopsy, prima facie it seemed that Bansi had first strangulated his wife with a sari, for her body was found on the bed with a sari wrapped around her neck, and later hanged himself and the little daughter,” said the SP.
Police also found rope marks around the necks of both Bansi and his daughter Laxmi.
