LUCKNOW: Twenty-seven hours after seven members of a
Hardoi family including a 9-year-old boy climbed an overhead
water tank along with 5 litres of petrol in Kakori, president hardoi bar association and district magistrate succeeded in mollifying the family and they got down after high volt drama on Saturday.
The family which included-
Vinay Pratap Singh, a lawyer, his brother
Ajay Pratap Singh, sister Rajwati along with his wife Radha, brother’s wife Mala, her son Shiv and sister’s daughter
Poonam had climbed atop a water tank in Joggers park and threatened immolation if their demands were not met.
The act by family created a flutter in the locality with commuters and residents swarming in huge number to the scene to inquire about the reason which caused the family to take the extreme step.
The fire brigade team used hydraulic cranes to persuade the family members.Some commuters also alerted the police. On Saturday morning, after hours of pleading and assurance by both the DM and superintendent of police, Hardoi the family was pacified and finally came down. District magistrate, Hardoi, Pulkit Khare told TOI that Vinay had climbed the tank threatening immolation along with family because he was dissatisfied with police probe in disappearance of his brother Vivek four years ago. He was demanding a CBI probe.
"His demands also include eviction of illegal dwellings from land property, sending a proposal to the governor for making him a notary, government job for a family member and compensation of Rs 50 lakh," said Khare.
