Several parts of Chikkamagaluru district received heavy rains in the past two days.

Parts of Banakal, Gonibeedu, Kalasa, and Javali hoblis in Mudigere taluk received heavy showers. Minor bridges and roads have been damaged.

A bridge on the road connecting Horanadu and Koppa washed away on Saturday. The bridge was repaired recently after it was damaged in the August rains. Life has been badly hit in parts of N.R. Pura and Balehonnur. People have lost communication with neighbouring villages as roads are inundated.

Against an average rainfall of 6.3 mm expected in the district on Saturday, it rained heavily registering 24 mm. Melina Huluvathi village in Chikkamagaluru taluk recorded the highest rainfall of 106 mm.

Residential localities including Kalidas Nagar in Chikkamagaluru town were flooded. The people could not sleep on Saturday night fearing further damage to their dwelling places.
