According to the police, the accused had looted Rs 58,500 from a petrol pump on gunpoint in Bhuta area on Saturday afternoon. After receiving the information about the robbery, SP (Crime) RK Bhartiya and SP (rural) Sansaar Singh arrived at the spot and launched a massive manhunt.
The accused have been identified. They are Nazim Hasan, Mannan Abbas, both residents of Noida, while accused Fazil Khan and Salman Sattar are residents of Sarai Rohilla in Delhi.
During interrogation, the accused told police that they had committed the robbery after receiving inputs from local residents, Akash Kumar, Ravi and Shreepal. The three of them were subsequently arrested by police on Sunday morning.
“It was really a commendable job by the Bhuta, Kuladia, Fatehganj and Faridpur police stations. All the escape routes were barricaded and efficient coordination among the police personnel made this operation successful. Officials faced the armed robbers with bravery and didn’t allow them to escape. We are waiting for the response from Noida and Delhi polices regarding the information about these criminals. In Bareilly, we have registered separate FIRs for attempt to murder and robbery against them,” SSP Bareilly Shailesh Pandey said.
