JHANSI: In a tragic incident, a student of class X drowned while another person got injured when the duo slipped into a water tank while taking a selfie in Chitrakoot on Sunday.
The incident took place at Raghav Pratap Kund under Manikpur police station of Chitrakoot district where a group of students along with their coaching teacher went to the water body for an excursion.

During the excursion, Raunak Pandey, a class X student and his friend Prince Chaudhary, an ITI student, went near the edge of the water tank to take a selfie, and suddenly both of them slipped into the tank.
The people present at the Kund immediately rushed to save them. In the rescue operation, Prince was taken out while Raunak went missing. Prince, who had suffered serious injuries, was admitted to the district hospital while a team of divers tried to search Raunak but could not succeed. Police and the administration officials, including SDM Manikpur, Sangam Lal, also rushed to the spot to supervise the rescue operation which had to be stopped due to darkness.
On Monday morning Raunak's body was fished out from the water tank. Virendra Tripathi, PRO to SP Chitrakoot, said the body has been sent for the postmortem examination while the injured is being treated in the hospital.
