Sorcerer dupes Kaimur man in name of ghosts
PATNA: A sorcerer from Varanasi in UP has been booked for duping a resident of Mohania in Kaimur district on the pretext of getting his 15-year-old sick daughter rid of ‘ghosts’. Kaimur SP Dilnawaz Ahmed said on Wednesday that one Prarelal Panda of Pishachmochan locality in Varanasi extorted Rs20,000 from Vinod Ram of Keloudi village under Mohania police station area recently.
The sorcerer also provided a certificate to Vinod disclosing the names of 12 ‘ghosts’ which were behind the illness of Vinod’s undergraduate daughter since long.
Vinod, a public servant at Bhabhua, also submitted a copy of the certificate to the police in support of his claim.
The SP said Panda attributed the reason for the illness of Vinod’s daughter to ghosts of his elder cousin Lal Bihari Ram’s two and a half months old daughter, who had died about six months ago. Lal Bihari is a government employee at Gaya.
Panda’s statement led to skirmishes between Vinod and his brother’s wife at the police station on Saturday. Mohania SHO Suraj Kumar Singh said a police team will visit Varanasi to collect more information about the accused.
“What is astonishing is that both the brothers are highly qualified, yet they are superstitious,” the SP said.
