Jhansi: Sand mafia's brother cries murder, says book Moth station officer

JHANSI: The encounter of alleged sand mafia Pushpendra Yadav has landed Jhansi Police in a spot, with the brother of deceased claiming it to be murder and saying he will write to the President seeking permission for euthanasia if Moth station officer is not booked. Senior police officials, however, denied the allegations.
On Wednesday, Pushpendra's brother, Ravindra, a CISF constable posted in DMRC, told reporters, "If a case of murder is not registered against Moth station officer, Dharmendra Singh Chauhan, then I will demand euthanasia from the President of India."
Pushpendra's family claims police were demanding bribe and had shot him after a dispute over the amount.

"I was on night duty when I got the news. They were demanding Rs 1.5 lakh for releasing his seized truck. He had already given Rs 1 lakh, and had gone with remaining amount. When my brother gave them money, they demanded more. He refused and asked them to return all , but was shot," he added.
On Wednesday, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav went to Kargua Khurd, the village of Pushpendra, and met his family. He said, "Police officials and state government have are saving SO. This reveals a conspiracy. I demand an enquiry by a sitting judge of high court. The police department is at fault. I have no belief in state administration." The family claims police wrongly dubbed him mining mafia though no case is lodged against him, but ADG (law and order), P V Ramashastry, told reporters in Lucknow on Wednesday, "Three cases, including those of brawl, elopement, were registered against Yadav in 2014-15, besides mining challans and non-cognisable offences. A magisterial probe is being conducted by ADM (east) Jhansi. Two FIRs have been registered."

On Monday, Pushpendra's wife had said, "I want justice for my husband. He went to give them money, but they demanded more. When he told them to return all the money, they killed him."
On Tuesday night, police arrested 39 persons, including former BSF jawan Tej Bahadur, who had filed nomination to contest against PM Narendra Modi from Varanasi, and sent them to jail for sitting on dharna at Moth tehsil.
SSP Jhansi, O P Singh, said, "They were allowed to give memorandum to officials but they sat on dharna on tehsil premises which is not allowed."
