Twelve hotels in South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) were given “Swachh Survekshan Abhiyan” rankings, the civic body said on Thursday.
Among the hotels, JW Marriot, Piccadily, Crown Plaza and Hyatt Regency were ranked the cleanest, the SDMC said.
A survey team comprising Deputy Health Officer, Licence Inspector, Sanitary Inspector and Junior Engineer from each zone were formed to evaluate hotels based on various parameters as per the norms of Swachh Survekshan rankings, which are carried out annually to determine cleanliness of cities across the country.
The basic criteria for evaluation was the placement of twin bins for segregated waste, facilities for waste segregation within the premises, availability of waste processing facility for composting, basic cleanliness and sanitation in rooms, availability of separate toilet facilities for men, women and differently abled citizens.
“The initiative was undertaken to “inculcate a spirit of healthy competition among hotels”, the civic body said.
In each zone, hotels were awarded the top three positions. In the Najafgarh zone, first place was awarded to JW Marriot, second to Pullman and third to Holiday Inn — all three located in Aerocity. In the west zone, first place was awarded to Piccadily in Janakpuri, second to Signature Grand and third to SK Premium.
In central zone, first place was awarded to Crown Plaza in Okhla, second to Aman Castle on Lodhi road and third to Surya in New Friends Colony. In the south zone, first place was given to Hyatt Regency, second to Eros at Nehru Place and third to Sheraton in Saket.
