Basti jail inmate escapes from hospital toilet

GORAKHPUR: A jail inmate undergoing treatment at district hospital escaped on Thursday at around 11pm.
The two constables deployed at the hospital raised alarm after they found the inmate missing from toilet. They apprised their seniors before alerting the local police. The prisoner is still at large.
Rape accused, Shiraz, a resident of Pursia under Walterganj police station in Basti district, was serving his term in the district jail from July 22.

As per the reports, at around 5pm on Thursday he was brought to the district hospital after he complained breathing problem.
“A couple of policemen had brought Shiraz from Basti jail to the hospital on Thursday. He was undergoing treatment in soldier ward. At around 11pm he told the constables that he wanted to go to toilet. After sometime the constables found that he has escaped after cutting the window net of washroom,” said Jailer Satish Chandra.
“The police force has launched a search for him,” he added.
