A love story, filmi style!

The news of the wedding has surprised all of their classmates, who never even imagined this could happen.

Kusireddy Siva Prasad spent two sleepless nights after proposing marriage to the love of his life, Araku MP Goddeti Madhavi, because she took as many days to decide! But he had more to worry about than just his proposal being rejected because they had been childhood friends.

It’s not easy for a common man to propose love to an elected representative. Here’s a story of a young man who not only proposed his love to an MP but will also soon marry her.

“I was worried if this proposal would mar our friendship. Of course, not many would imagine proposing to a politician, but she’s first my friend and we’ve shared much in life already, so I prepared myself for the big day. Finally, she said yes,” explains Siva Prasad. They are slated to wed on 17th October.

Says Madhavi, blushing pink, “I hadn’t expected the proposal, but I don’t have any reason to reject him. We were classmates since the 6th standard in a school in Narsipatnam and became friends in the 10th standard, which was in 2007. Till date, we have been friends and have shared much with each other even after I joined my job. He’s even helped me prepare for my competitive exams.”

The silent affair
The news of the wedding has surprised all of their classmates, who never even imagined this could happen.

Siva Prasad has been the driver, mentor, coordinator and lot more to Madhavi. While he’s been behind all of Madhavi’s small successes, he’s eventually played a significant role in her winning in the recent elections. In fact, the election campaign even built a stronger bond between the two.

The trials and tribulations of love
The love story, however, did come with its share of twists and turns. First, they faced serious objections from their families. Madhavi’s father, Goddeti Demudu, has twice won the assembly ticket from Chintapalli constituency contesting for the Communist Party of India. Siva Prasad’s father, Kusireddy Narayana Murthy, also fought the elections for the Demudu constituency. And funnily, both the fathers have been friends; yet, convincing them took a while.

Adding a filmy touch to the love story, some of the Opposition party leaders also played villains in the story, circulating lousy rumours about their friendship in the hope that the news would spread like wild fire in the villages and impact her election results.

Instead, Madhavi won with a huge majority. “Despite the few who targeted our relationship to damage her chances at the elections, she won it because of her father and the YSRC Chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy wave. He’s blessed her with a ticket knowing that we didn'’t even have money for adding fuel in our cars. But we did this against the giant names who contested against Madhavi,” says Siva Prasad as he signs off.
