JIAGANJ (MURSHIDABAD): Two persons from a multi-level marketing firm, who used to do business with primary school teacher Bandhu Prakash Pal, were detained for questioning on Thursday night, before the government asked the CID to help with the Murshidabad triple murder probe.
Cops have also launched a manhunt for a person, believed to be an agent of a multi-level marketing firm. Raids have been conducted on his home in Rampurhat and a place which he had rented.
Police said two witnesses, neighbours Krishna Sarkar and Ratan Kumar Das, testified that a day before the murder (on October 9), two unidentified youths had been asking around locals when Pal and his family would return home.

The cops have also talked to Krishna's husband Pabitra and milkman Rajib Das who claimed they had seen a killer - in a black T-shirt and trousers - scaling the boundary wall. A preliminary autopsy report indicated that Pal and his eight-year-old son offered little resistance when they were murdered, while his wife, Beauty (32), had tried to fight back the killer. Beauty was eight months' pregnant. Police say they suspect Pal and his son were either drugged or killed in their sleep. Beauty was sleeping in the next room. "We suspect that one or more people known to the family might have been involved," said ASP Tanmoy Sarkar. "We have also recovered a note apparently written by Beauty. It reveals marital discord," said Sarkar.
Pal's mother Maya Rani blamed her estranged husband Amar for the murders. "My three children and I had been targeted four times after he deserted me," she alleged. Police, however, are not immediately buying this theory.
BJP, meanwhile, has sought time from Union home minister Amit Shah and President Ram Nath Kovind to apprise them of the "breakdown" of law and order in Bengal, national general secretary of the party Kailash Vijayvargiya said on Friday. State BJP president Dilip Ghosh is likely to attend a demonstration near the Gandhi statue on Mayo Road.

Pal's kin, however, claimed he had no RSS links. His brother-in-law Diptiman Sarkar claimed to have received a call from RSS in Kolkata offering financial help. Sarkar claims to have rejected it. Sarkar's wife Bandhu Priya, Pal's mother Maya, cousin Bandhu Krishna Ghosh (who also lodged an FIR) and Beauty's brother Sakshi Gopal Ghosh said there was no political motive behind the murders.
