UP: Girl found murdered in Etah, body dumped half a km away from home

AGRA: An 11-year-old girl was found murdered in suspicious circumstances and her body was dumped nearly a half km away from her home in remote village of Etah district.
The incident took place on Saturday and victim’s body was recovered by 5.30pm. Third among six siblings and only daughter of her parents, victim hailed from Lohakhar village of Bagwala police jurisdiction.
After the incident, tension prevailed in the village and heavy police force were roped in to maintain law and order.
On Sunday, under police supervision, the girl’s body was cremated after conducting autopsy. Dharmender Singh, station house officer of Bagawal said, "The post-mortem did not confirm rape with the girl, but the victim had bruises and other injury marks near her waist, hand and face. She was smothered to death."
Speaking to TOI, Dev Anand circle officer of Etah said, "The girl’s mouth was gagged by her stole and same was tightly wrapped around her neck. Her parents informed that she was last seen at 10.30am as she had left home to give bottle of water to her mother, who was reaping millet in their farm field."
"The girl never reached to her mother. The matter came to light after the victim’s mother enquired about the girl to her father, and he informed her that the girl left home by 10.30am. Later, the entire family and other villagers engaged in search of the girl and her body was found hidden in bushes some 500 meters away from her home. The girl was dragged into the bushes after been murdered. Five teams including surveillance are working on the case to identify the accused," added officer Dev Anand.
According to police the family had no enmity with anyone and neither have they had any suspicion on anyone from the village. Other angles were also being probed by police.
